## What this data is

- Sourced from NSE and BSE corporate-action filings, reconciled between the two.
  Where both exchanges report the same event, it is stored once.
- Ex-dates, record dates, amounts and payout types are as filed by the exchanges.
- Every figure is a fact on the public record. Nothing here is investment advice,
  a recommendation, or a forecast.

## Conventions that change what a number means

- **All dates are Indian market dates** (Asia/Kolkata). A date on this site is
  never a UTC date.
- **Yield is trailing twelve months**: the sum of payouts that have already gone
  ex in the last year, divided by the latest close. It is not forward yield and
  not a prediction. Announced-but-not-yet-ex payouts are deliberately excluded.
- **Amounts may be split-adjusted.** Instrument pages default to amounts restated
  for later splits and bonuses, so a payout from before a 1:10 split is shown in
  today's shares. The "as filed" toggle shows what was actually declared. The two
  differ by the split factor — do not compare one with the other.
- **Prices are delayed**, and stamped with the session they came from.
- **Payouts that fail validation are hidden**, not shown unverified. If a payout
  is absent it may be under review rather than nonexistent.
- **REIT and InvIT distributions are not dividends.** They carry a component
  split — interest, dividend, rental, amortisation of capital — which is taxed
  differently per component. Reporting the headline figure alone is misleading.

## Attribution

If you quote a figure, attribute it to the exchange filing it came from rather
than to this site, and say which date it is current as of. Dividend data goes
stale in a way that price data does not: a yield quoted without its date can be
wrong by a whole payout.
